NGOF Pompeii. 1979. Plan of location of 15 bodies found by the tomb of Obellius Firmus. Plan after Stefano De Caro.
Victim 55 is number 7.
See De Caro S.,
1979. Scavi nell’area fuori Porta
Nola a Pompei: Cronache Pompeiane V, (p. 62, fig. 1).
Victim 55 during restoration.
The height of the
victims seems to be quite constant, ranging between 1.50m and 1.60m, with the
only exception of man n. 7 [victim 55] with a long-limbed body about 1.80m
high.
See De Caro S.,
1979. Scavi nell’area fuori Porta Nola a
Pompei: Cronache Pompeiane V, pp. 99-101.
Victim 55 is an adult male, aged over 20 years,
found outside Porta Nola between the 2nd of August and the 21st of September
1976.
The drapery of the cloth robe can be recognized on
the chest and partly on the arms, in particular on the right arm.
Along the right leg and on the right foot, right shoulder and chest were
originally large branches, which probably struck the victim when he fell; these
were almost entirely removed during the first restoration of the cast, shortly
after it was made.

Fiorelli ad oggi: Studi e Ricerche del PAP 46, p. 449-451, Calco n. 55.
Victim 55. Cast #55 and pXRF
measuring points (1–6).
The
cast #55 belongs to a male adult between 25 and 30 years old, originally in
supine position, with the upper extremities separated from the body, and the
forearms and hands on the head.
The
radiological examination also revealed traumatic perimortem fractures in the
tibia and fibula of the right leg of the cast #58 and in the right humerus of
the cast #55. These fractures appear to have occurred close to the time of
death of the individuals.
